The event is part of the RESCEU project: Escape Room: What would life be without the EU?, funded by the European Union from the Europe for Citizens program.

The RESCEU project wants to educate young people about the importance of the European Union in an interesting and interactive way. During the conference, current European issues will be presented, especially related to youth in the EU, Euroscepticism and the current refugee situation resulting from the war in Ukraine. The international closing conference will take place on World Refugee Day. Work with refugees and other immigrants is the central area of activity of the Novo mesto Association for the Development of Voluntary Work.

The conference will be held in English. It will be attended by 20 representatives of project partners and 50 local participants, mostly young people.

Volunteering is an important social bond that promotes solidarity and strives for a better future for all. In crisis situations and in the event of mass disasters, volunteers are often the cornerstone of helping those affected. MEP Joveva will take part in a discussion on volunteering in the EU as part of the #StudioEurope project on Monday, 23 May, at 11 am.

What is the future of volunteering, also in light of the Covid-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine? How can the state support the work of volunteers and NGOs and how can the European Union? Where are the possible and necessary improvements?

The discussion will take place as part of the EPAS project – School Ambassador of the European Parliament.

The Office of the European Parliament in Slovenia in cooperation with the IPM Institute on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, organizes an online conversation of high school students with MEP Irena Joveva entitled “If I decide on the prevention of addiction among young people” put them in the role of decision-makers and present their proposals for action in the field of selected European policy, thus offering a starting point for a discussion on the EU’s efforts to reduce dependency among young people, its competences and possible solutions. The topics of the events were chosen as the most relevant by the students in the online voting.

Discussions “If I Were to Decide” are intended primarily for students of schools involved in the School Ambassador of the European Parliament (EPAS) program, which will reveal various current European issues, learn about EU competencies and decision-making process and offer creative insight into young people’s thinking about solutions. areas.

The PIP Institute is implementing the project “Europe on our doorstep”, with which they want to draw attention to topics in the local environment that have a broader European context. They want to dedicate one of the events called “European Picnic” to the target group of young people, because on the occasion of the European Year of Youth it is important to enable this target group to express its opinion on important EU issues.

This debate with students of the Secondary School of Economics and Gymnasium Maribor will be dedicated to the topic of media literacy, as the organizers want to draw young people’s attention to the importance of critical assessment of media content and content available online. The event will be designed as a conversation with young people, focusing on the importance of critical thinking and critical assessment of the content of what we can do ourselves to improve our media literacy competencies. The event will take place in hybrid form.

On Wednesday, 30 March 2022, MEP Irena Joveva will attend a round table entitled The Future of Education and Opportunities in the EU, chaired by Žiga Papež, a candidate for Member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia.

At the event, participants will touch on the current situation in the field of education in Slovenia and the EU. They will highlight current and likely future problems, and offer possible solutions. Among other things, they will talk about non-formal education and its importance. They will present young people some concrete opportunities that the EU offers and that the latter can take advantage of today.

MEP Joveva will have a short interview for IDEA television on Friday, February 10, 2022. In the conversation with the anchor Luka Antolin, they will focus on the current situation in Ukraine, the rule of law in Slovenia, the influence of Hungarian capital on events in Slovenia, media freedom and other current conditions.
