On Monday, October 17, 2022, MEP Irena Joveva (GS/Renew Europe) will address the audience at a round table entitled “Between memory and oblivion: places of remembrance of the Second World War”. The theme of the event will be the preservation of the historical memory of small nations and the preservation of architectural heritage in the understanding of European memory policy. The preservation of architectural heritage is of great importance for Slovenia as well as for the EU, because in the case of the memorial on Rab, it is about Ravnikar’s project.

At the event, the participants will present their views and visions on what Europe should look like in 2050. The participants will also address the topic of illiberalism and how to successfully oppose it.

MEP Irena Joveva will participate as a speaker at the event.

On Friday, September 16, 2022, MEP Irena Joveva will take part in an event organized by the Zlata Pentljica Institute – Children with Cancer, called “Our stories, your questions”, where children who have overcome cancer in childhood or who have or are still struggling with its consequences, presented their stories, what makes them happy and what gives them new impetus.

“Our stories, your questions” will be the first public performance of children with cancer in Slovenia.

During this year’s speech by the president of the European Commission on the state of the Union on Wednesday, September 14, MEP Irena Joveva will participate in a debate with reactions to President von der Leyen’s speech from the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

The event will take place in a hybrid format, and will be attended by European Commissioner Janez Lenarčič, among others. The event will be broadcast live via EPLO and PEK Facebook profiles and via STAvživo. The State of the Union speech itself will also be broadcast live on MMC RTV Slovenia, on the 3rd program of TV Slovenia and on the Siol.net portal.

The debate will be moderated by journalist Nataša Briški.

On Friday, September 9, at 10 a.m. in the EU House at Dunajska 20 in Ljubljana, MEP Joveva will attend a press briefing before the upcoming September plenary session of the European Parliament.

On Thursday, September 15, 2022, MEP Irena Joveva will take part in the 2nd national conference with international participation entitled “Situation and challenges in the field of Alzheimer’s disease in Slovenia: in the light of the new reality”.

The member of parliament will briefly address the audience, as recognizing the issue of dementia, destigmatizing it and raising public awareness of dementia as a public health priority, is key to faster detection and treatment of this disease.

The event is co-organized by NIJZ, Spominčica association and ZRC SAZU.

MEP Irena Joveva will briefly address the gathered students about the current state of democracy in the European Parliament, the European Union and the world as part of the international summer school for international relations and human rights of the Academia Aestiva Internationalis of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Ljubljana.

This year’s summer school is entitled “Democracy is the only way” – past illusion or future potential for our society? and will take place between June 27 and July 3, 2022 at the Faculty of Social Sciences.

MEP Joveva will give a short radio interview to Radio 94 on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, about the current situation on the political scene.

The closing ceremony will be dedicated to award the titles won by schools and students, announcing the best schools this season and inviting them to participate next year. This year’s season of the educational program School Ambassador of the European Parliament (EPAS) was attended by teachers and students from as many as 75 Slovenian high schools and dormitories.

On the sidelines of the ceremony, there will also be a discussion with MEPs on youth and European politics, active citizenship and ways to involve young people in democratic processes. The discussion will be moderated by Mojca Mavec and will last approximately 45 minutes.

The event will be dedicated to meeting students of II. Gymnasium Maribor, which this year received the title of Best School – School Ambassador of the European Parliament #EPAS.
