On Tuesday 21 November 2023, MEP Irena Joveva will take part in a debate on the persistent undermining of the rule of law, the independence of the judiciary and the non-compliance with conditionality requirements for EU funding in Hungary at the plenary session of the European Parliament in Brussels.

MEP Irena Joveva will attend an inter-parliamentary meeting of the Committee on Culture and Education, which will host a meeting on “European citizenship education”. The debate, which will bring together MEPs, Members of national parliaments and invited guests, including representatives of the European Commission, UNESCO and the Council of Europe, will focus on the state of civic education in Europe – best practices of European civic education in national and European contexts and its relevance for young people, as well as a discussion on the role of the European Parliament in the implementation of measures related to European civic education and the relevance of European citizenship education in the light of the European Parliament elections in 2024.

MEP Irena Joveva will take part as rapporteur-general in the trialogue on the report on population and housing statistics to be held in the European Parliament on Thursday 30 November 2023.

MEP Irena Joveva will take part in the trialogue on the European Media Freedom Act as rapporteur of the Renew Europe Group, which will take place in the European Parliament on Wednesday 29 November 2023.

On Thursday 26 October 2023, MEP Irena Joveva will take part in an online debate on the work of the European Parliament and the upcoming European elections, organised by the Hiša EU and the IPM Institute in the framework of the EPAS project.

Dr Milan Brglez (S&D) and Matjaž Nemec (S&D) will also take part in the debate.

From 2 to 5 October, the European Parliament will hold its first October plenary session in Strasbourg.

The main topics will be:

– The European Media Freedom Act

– Medicines shortages and the strategic autonomy of healthcare in the EU

– The need for swift adoption of the asylum and migration package

– European Green Bonds

– Protecting workers from asbestos

– A new European strategy for a better internet for children

On Monday, 2 October 2023, MEP Irena Joveva will be a guest on TV IDEA. The show will be broadcast at 18.30 and will be repeated on Monday, 2 October at 21.15 and on Tuesday, 3 October at 8.30. MEP Irena Joveva, Shadow Rapporteur on behalf of the Renew Europe political group, will take part in the debate and vote on the European Media Freedom Act at the Parliament’s plenary session in Strasbourg on Tuesday 3 October 2023.

On Wednesday, 4 October 2023, Irena Joveva MEP will take part in a thematic debate on decent housing for all at the plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

The MEP will attend the 18th annual meeting of the Internet Governance Forum, hosted by the Japanese government in Kyoto from 8-12 October 2023.The Forum’s central theme is “The Internet we want – empowering all people”. The agenda is based on eight themes: artificial intelligence and technology development; preventing internet fragmentation; cyber security, cybercrime and online safety; data governance and trust; digital divide and inclusion; global digital governance and cooperation; human rights and freedoms; and sustainability and the environment.

She will be one of the speakers on a panel on fighting disinformation to make digital space trustworthy again on Monday 9 October 2023.
