Discussion with students of Ravne na Koroškem gymnasium – Think and say it out loud!
MEP Joveva will take part in a discussion with students of the Ravne na Koroškem Grammar School “Think and say it out loud!”, which is being carried out by the IPM institute under the auspices of the IPM Academy in cooperation with Slovenian secondary schools. The project addresses the issue of low levels of active citizenship among young people, which is one of the biggest problems of modern democracies. Within the project, young people will put themselves in the role of decision-makers and present their proposals for measures in the field of youth policies and issues aimed at implementing the EU Youth Strategy 2021-2027. The event will take place via the digital tool ZOOM and is expected to last two school hours.
Mental health: Problems and challenges facing adolescents
MEP Irena Joveva (Renew Europe/LMŠ) is organising a virtual round table titled “Mental Health: Problems and Challenges Facing Adolescents” on Thursday, 3 February 2022, from 11 am to 12.30 pm.
The field of mental health is extremely important for the quality of life of an individual. However, the situation in this area, especially among young people, has recently deteriorated sharply, as shown by numerous indicators, expert analyzes and research that highlight the growing number of adolescents diagnosed with mental and behavioural disorders and the growing proportion of young people who regularly experience loneliness and stress. Last but not least, young people were further affected by measures of closed public life, restrict activities and distance learning as a result of limiting the Covid-19 pandemic. Feelings of loneliness and stress, which worsen the mental health situation among young people, have also intensified.
Thus, in the office of MEP Irena Joveva, we decided to organize a round table to address this burning issue and talk about it with experts in the field of psychiatry and youth work.
We’ll discuss the topic with:
- Irena Joveva, MEP (Renew Europe/LMŠ),
- Maria Soraya Rodriguez Ramos (Renew Europe/Ciudadanos),
- Marjan Šarec, president of the LMŠ party,
- dr. Andrej Naterer, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Arts, University of Maribor, co-author of the research Youth 2020,
- dr. Marija Anderluh, Ph.D. med., Head of the Department of Child Psychiatry, University Medical Center Ljubljana,
- doc. dr. Andreja Poljanec, B.Sc. B.Sc. psych., spec. marital and family therapies; and
- Klemen Selaković, author of the most listened Slovenian podcast Aidea and digital nomad.
The round table will be chaired and moderated by the Member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia Aljaž Kovačič (LMŠ), a member of the Committee on Education, Science, Sport and Youth in the National Assembly.
You will be able to watch the round table live on the Facebook profile of MP Irena Joveva: here.
